10 Questionz with McLuther
Mcluther Mambala is a contemporary Jazz Musician|Singer|Songwriter from Blantyre Malawi. In 2014, he won the Sunbird Search for a Star Championship along with K500,000 cash (which is equivalent to 27,500 USD) and a record deal with Nde’feyo Entertainment.
In April of 2020, McLuther partnered with the Reach Out For Life Organization on a Covid-19 digital awareness campaign, to inform people about the preventive measures of the pandemic in a skilled, viable, and artistic way.
McLuther and I released our single “Obsession” in October 2020, with his album “McLuther’s Discovery” following not long after. The album consists of 7 songs and an intro and is featuring artist from around the world including myself and the beautiful and talented songstress Sangie.

10 Questionz with McLuther
1. What Inspired you to start doing music?
I was brought up in a musical family.
2. Back in 2014, you won the Malawi sunbird star search competition. What was that like for you?
Before the competition, I was just a church singer, but winning The Voice Malawi-famously known as Ewallet Sunbird search for a Star-was a steppingstone for me. It helped me go commercial and show people that I have what it takes to make great music.
3. What inspired your “McLuther’s Discovery” Album and how did you come up with the concept?
I discovered foreign talents from around the world like my good friend Scarlet as well as South African based producer Pereka Sibale and these talents discovered me and I decided it would be a good idea to collab with them and make music I love while fusing it with these unique talents and creating a new genre or a new sound that everyone can enjoy.
4. What’s your latest track?
I just dropped the video for Tomorrow, a song on the Discovery Album.
5. Who do you think your sound is like?
My sound is like myself. It’s an influence of my culture and what I like and admire.
6. What are you working on now?
I am currently working on 2 big projects as well as some more visual content. Soon I will drop a video entitled, “The Resolve.”
7. What has been your greatest challenge thus far?
My greatest challenge has been management due to the sound I do. Several people in my country seem to fail with marketing. I’ve been pushing my music on my own and it can be frustrating at times and have made me consider quitting.
8. What are you most proud of in your musical career?
Being naturally strong on vocals and arrangements.
9. Of all the music you have out right now, which song is your favorite?
I love all of them because I don’t release what I don’t like.
10. What advice would you give anyone trying to pursue music?
They should be sure of what they want and they should make sure they practice big time.
